Obituary

Eugene West, 72, of Pine Bluff, died Thursday, May 7, 2020 at home surrounded by his family.

Born Wesley Eugene West October 17, 1947 in Pine Bluff, he was the son of Lawrence Wesley West and Mary Bell Ashcraft West.

Mr. West was reared and received his early education in Watson Chapel, graduating from Watson Chapel High School in 1967.

He worked for the Cotton Belt Railroad and retired after 30 years and also owning and operating his own logging company for more than 25 years, West and West Logging.

Mr. West enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking care of his cattle.

Along with his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marilyn Faye Gatlin West, whom he married April 4, 1969 in Pine Bluff; and brother, William Jackson West.

Survivors include his daughter, Marion Annette Clark (John) of Pine Bluff; son, James Michael West of Pine Bluff; brother, Thomas Lawrence West of Pine Bluff; grandchildren, Elizabeth Lawrence (significant other, Spencer Silvey), Bryce Clark (Heather), Landon Clark and Paige Clark; and special friend of 36 years, Debbie Martindill. And a special thanks to Carolyn Ferguson his caregiver.

A private graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 11, 2020 at Brown Cemetery with Brother Doney Blackerby officiating.

Online register and streaming of the service will be on www.RalphRobinsonandSon.com. Due to the location of the cemetery and lack of good internet, the service may not be live.
