With a heavy heart, I am sad to share that my grandmother passed away last night. Sybil was a class act. She bloomed with dignity and grace. She was sharper than a tack, beautiful inside and out, dependable, had faith stronger than a lion, and enjoyed the finer things in life. But, most of all, Sybil loved and cherished family. Sybil had the prettiest linens and boy, did she know how to perfectly fold them!! With every linen that I embroider, I will always think of my grandmother Sybil.

Sybil Brazil, 90, of Pine Bluff, passed away peacefully at Good Shepherd on May 12, 2020. She was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas on November 4, 1929, to Otis and Gazelle Fikes Brewer.

Along with her parents, Mrs. Brazil was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Brazil; and her brothers, Dr. Charles Brewer and James Brewer.

She graduated from Watson Chapel High School, and married her high school sweetheart, Leonard Brazil, on May 5, 1949. They had 2 children, Judy Brazil Carpenter (husband Warren) and Debbie Brazil Thicksten (husband Mark).

In 1957 Sybil and Leonard started Pine Bluff Crating & Pallet. Sixty-three years later the company is still going strong with their grandson, Zach Thicksten, running the business.

Her biggest joys were her 5 grandchildren, Hunter Carpenter and his wife Megan, Lindsey Carpenter Gray and her husband Phil, Zach Thicksten and his wife Ruthie, Nicholas Thicksten and his wife Caroline, and Molly Ellen Thicksten; and her 12 great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed going to the lake with her family and loved family vacations to Colorado and Florida. Sybil was a life-long member of Good Faith United Methodist Church. The family would like to thank the compassionate caregivers at Good Shepherd.

Private graveside services will be at 10:30 AM Friday at Graceland Cemetery with Rev. John Landis officiating by Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors.

The family asks that your thoughtful gifts be made to Good Faith Carr United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.

Judy, Debbie, Lindsey and family our thoughts and prayers are with you. Mrs. Brazil was a lovely lady and we enjoyed her each time we visited with her. My Mom and Dad (Abe and Jo Stone) thought the world of both Sybil and Leonard and Joe enjoyed Mr. Leonard and thought highly of him. God be with you all .
