Obituary

Ryan Anthony Renfro, 34, of Fayetteville, died Saturday, July 18, 2020.

He was born May 21, 1986 in Pine Bluff, son of Ronald and Donna Telliard Renfro.

Ryan was reared and received his early education in Pine Bluff, graduating from St. Joseph Catholic High School. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.

After graduation from college, Ryan remained in Fayetteville, where he was working for the University of Arkansas as an Administrative Specialist III.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayetteville.

Ryan loved all domestic & wildlife animals and enjoyed ornithology & entomology. He had many followers with his Bird of the Day newsletter. A kind soul to all he met, those fortunate to know Ryan benefitted greatly. Ryan’s myriad of passions included gardening, Turner Classic movies (for their portrayal of simple life), music from all genres, and getting to know people. Always curious and a constant learner, Ryan had a fondness for adventure. He had goals of traveling the globe someday. His communication skills far surpassed any classroom curriculum, and in 2019, he received the honor of employee of the quarter in his department at the University of Arkansas.

Ryan was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Thomas P. Telliard and paternal step-grandfather, Brien R. Winkley.

Survivors include his parents, Ronald E. Renfro and Donna Telliard Renfro of Pine Bluff; brother, Robert Thomas “Robbie” Renfro and his wife, Maura, and their daughter, Dottie of Fayetteville, AR; paternal grandmother, Mary Winkley of Pine Bluff; maternal grandmother, Mildred Ann Telliard of Riverside, CA; and aunts and uncles, Kate McLearn of Dundee, Oregon, Tom Telliard (Debbie), Mary Beckerle (Ken), Tim Telliard, Tony Telliard (Donna) all from Riverside, CA, and many cousins from CA, NV, OR, and UT. Ryan is also survived by his step-aunts, Gail Podhaisky, Carol Winkley, both of Texas, Rita Winkley of Colorado, and many step-cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pine Bluff with Father Joe Marconi officiating. A Vigil service will be 5:30 pm, Monday, July 27, 2020 at Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors in Pine Bluff with Deacon Noel F. “Bud” Bryant officiating. Visitation following the Vigil until 7:30 pm Monday evening at Robinson’s. We will follow all state guidelines for both events.

Memorials may be made to Humane Society of the Ozarks, 1733 N. Crossover Rd, Fayetteville, AR 72701, St Joseph Catholic Church, 1722 N. Starr Dr, Fayetteville, AR 72701, or St. Joseph Catholic Church, 412 W. Sixth Ave, Pine Bluff, AR 71601.

Ryan was the nicest young man I've ever chatted with. I loved our conversations under our maple tree. I'm over twice his age but always learned something from Ryan. We used to talk about all the lovely birds in our yard. I could ramble on because I'm still in shock so I'll close by saying that I'm a better man for knowing Ryan. You will be missed and you are deeply loved

He was my star student, a heart of gold, my number one student in ninth grade religion at St. Joseph. I will always remember his beautiful smile.

Ryan was the heart and soul of the University of Arkansas CSCE department, where I knew him from. It has been incredibly moving to read the condolences left by others, to learn that he touched so many others in the same way as his genuine interest and charm touched me. He will be sorely missed.

We join many others here who remembered how friendly and outgoing Ryan was. On our neighborhood walks, as we passed a smiling young man he stopped and introduced himself. We chatted then and 3 or 4 more times in the last few months, each time being so impressed with his openness and sincere friendliness. Our hearts are so sad for your loss and our prayers go out to you in this difficult time. Frank and Eunice Millett

Ryan,
I hope you are looking down from the heavens and reading all of these beautiful messages. I have read every one of them and what is overwhelmingly apparent is how loved and appreciated you were. I love you and Robbie like brothers.. always have, always will. Ella will always know what her God father meant to me and what a truly great human being you were. I miss you so much Ryan. Until we see each other again... I love you buddy.
