Obituary for Melvin Joseph Grimes

Melvin Joseph Grimes, 69, of Cabot, was a happy man who loved coffee, never met a stranger and had a gift for putting people at ease.

He died Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at home.

Melvin was born November 16, 1952 in Pine Bluff, son of Elmer “Bud” and Rose Failla Grimes.

He was reared and received his early education at the Annunciation Academy in Pine Bluff before graduating from Pine Bluff High School in 1971.

Melvin attended St. Joseph Catholic Church prior to moving to Cabot.

He worked at various jobs in his earlier years and retired early in life due to health issues.

In his young adult years, Melvin loved to fish and work on his beloved ’68 Mustang.  Throughout life he enjoyed traveling with his brother and family and was always the life of the party.  Melvin enjoyed going to Oaklawn to watch the races and really enjoyed being with family.  He treated his nieces and nephews as his own children.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe Failla, Jr. and Elvira Fratesi Failla and brother, Scott Anthony Grimes.

Survivors include his brother, Michael Grimes of Cabot and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and one great-great-nephew.
