Obituary

Maxine Greathouse Stahl, 89, of Germantown, Tennessee, died Sunday, May 3, 2020.

She was born April 7, 1931 in McCurtain, Oklahoma, daughter of Fred and Hettie Myrtle Davis Greathouse.

Mrs. Stahl was reared and received her early education in Clebit, Oklahoma and Gillham, Arkansas, graduating from Gillham High School. She attended Arkansas Baptist Nursing School in Little Rock.

She served as a registered nurse for the Leon Levi Hospital in Hot Springs, in Houston Texas, Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, administrator for a Jefferson County nursing home and Cleveland County Nursing Home for a total of 42 years, retiring May 4, 1996.

Mrs. Stahl was a long-time member of what is now Highway 79 Church of Christ in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, former member of American Nurses Association and a nursing home administrator organization.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Eldridge Stahl, whom she married December 23, 1955 in De Queen, Arkansas; four brothers and seven sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Stephen Frederick Stahl of Garland, Texas and Paul Melvin Stahl (Janice) of Germantown, Tennessee; step-daughter, Peggy Granderson of Pine Bluff; sister, Nita Causey of De Queen, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Jason and Kimberly Stahl; and brother-in-law, Douglas Stahl..

Private graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 9, 2020 at Memorial Park with Mr. Clarence Fell officiating. There will be no visitation. The service will be streamed on www.RalphRobinsonandSon.com. Family and friends may also leave a typed or video condolence in honor of Mrs. Stahl.

Mrs. Stahl was my supervisor on the old 2NW at JRMC in 1972. I enjoyed working for her and later with her as a respiratory therapist. My sincere condolences to her family.

To the Stahl family, I’m so sorry for your loss. My family lived next door to Maxine & Aubrey for about 15 years and they watched our boys grow up, helping in every way. I was a Nurse at JRMC so we had a lot in common. We lived in the house facing 270. Even though I’ve been out of touch since moving to Sheridan many years ago, those memories will always be special.
