Obituary

Martha Sue Caperton Pearce, 86, of Pine Bluff, died March 3, 2021 at Trinity Village Medical Center. She was born December 12, 1934 in Monticello, Arkansas and was the daughter of the late Clyde and Sarah Cruce Caperton. She graduated from Drew Central High School in 1952.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Don Pearce, Sr. in 2000; her second husband Algie Bost in 2019; and her parents.

Survivors include her children, Lee Pearce (Nancy), Mark Pearce, Gary Pearce (Suzanne) and Nancee Pearce Tice (Mark), all of Pine Bluff; grandchildren, Elizabeth Pearce, Jenna Smart, Gabe Peyton, Gretchen Pearce, Marleigh Leek, Martha Pearce, Sarah Herr and Joshua Tice; and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Mary Lynn Pickering of Little Rock.

She married Don “Peewee” Pearce in 1955 and they opened Arkansas Printing Company in 1965. Their four children were raised in the business from a very young age and taught a solid work ethic- to work hard to become successful. She was a very devoted “Mams” – as her grandchildren fondly called her. She was very active in all of their lives and loved to smock dresses for them when they were young.

She was a devout Christian and very involved in First Christian Church of Pine Bluff where she served on numerous board positions through the years as well as Disciples Women. Her banana pudding was always a big hit at the dessert auction.

She was an active member of the Junior Sesame Club and PEO Sisterhood. You would also find her playing bridge regularly with friends in her spare time.

She loved to travel in her younger years and was a regular member of the Classic Club and Crown Club trips.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Home from 2:00- 4:00 pm. Interment will be private.

Memorials may be made to PEO AU-BZ Scholarship Fund, 4613 Stevens Drive, Pine Bluff, AR 71603; or First Christian Church, 304 White Hall Avenue, White Hall, AR 71602.

Dear Family - I was so sorry to hear about Martha Sue. She was such a friendly lady. She was my neighbor and lived three doors down from me. I will never forget her thoughtfulness in coming to my 93 year old mother's birthday party for a little while and she was on her way to her grandchild's birthday party that same afternoon also. Her thoughtfulness will stay with me forever.
She will be greatly missed. Know that your family is in my prayers. Monica Mitcham

Dear Lee, Gary, Nancee and Mark, I was so sorry to learn of your mom’s passing. She was such a nice lady and the Pearces were one of the nicest families at First Christian Church, and I’ve known that since Gary and I shared adjoining cribs in the church nursery. May your memories of her bring you comfort. Donnie Ragland

I enjoyed knowing Mrs. Martha Sue. We spent a lot of time together one summer when we hosted softball girl teams. She was positive and always had a big smile. My deepest condolences to her children - Nancee, Mark and Lee, and the rest of the family. Love, Mildred Franco

I have such sweet memories of Martha Sue since early childhood, as she was my mother's first cousin. We saw her quite often with Don and all of her dear children, Lee, Gary, Mark, and Nancee, whom I love also. She had a beautiful smile and kind word
for everyone always. I recently read a poem that had a part in it which made me think of her:
You were a shining woman
always giving us a reason to rejoice
and so you still are, you always will be.

Love you and will always miss you, Wallis Anne Williams Baud
