Jerry Lee Cantrell, 85, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2021. He was born March 4th, 1935 in England, Arkansas to the late Jacob C. Cantrell and Virgie Sadie May Cantrell. Jerry is survived by his children Larry Cantrell (Jennifer) and Susan Over (Darrell); grandchildren Chloe’ Cantrell and Macey Cantrell; and many nieces and nephews.

Jerry spent his early years farming with his mother, brothers and sisters. After High School he joined the United States Air Force and received electronics training. He was stationed at the Air Force base on St. Lawrence Island off the coast of Alaska. During his 1 year remote assignment he exchanged letters with Mary Sue, and when he returned home he married the love of his life, Mary Sue Whitehead, September 15, 1955. Jerry and Mary were happily married for sixty three years.

Jerry was a builder and loved his projects. He started and ran several successful businesses during his career: Cantrell Realty, Cantrell Construction, and Triple C Lumber Company. As a licensed Real Estate Broker for over 60 years, he built and sold countless custom homes in Pine Bluff and Central Arkansas.

Jerry was involved in several professional and civic organizations. He was a past president of the Pine Bluff Homebuilders Association and the Pine Bluff Board of Realtors’ Association. He was a member of the Arkansas Realtors Association, the National Association of Realtors, the Arkansas Home Builders Association, and the National Association of Home Builders. He and his wife Mary Sue were active members of the Power Squadron, and the Star Stepper’s square dancing group. Jerry and Mary were members of First Baptist Church which became the source of friendships that have lasted fifty plus years. The Sunset Bay Supper Club was initiated and became a continuing source of enjoyment.

Jerry’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, boating, wood working, and various projects at his River house, which was his happy place. He enjoyed sitting on the dock with family and friends, and watching the sunset, which he referred to as his “million dollar view”.

Jerry’s primary focus in life was always his family, and he was happiest when he could spend time with his loved ones. Jerry and Mary’s home was the gathering place for countless family events where many memories were created. He had a way of making everyone feel special and was considered a second father by many relatives and friends. Jerry’s life in this world has ended, but his legacy of love will continue through the memories of family and friends.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Pine Bluff with Michael Reed officiating. Interment will follow in Mulberry Cemetery in England by Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 23rd from 10:00 a.m. until service time at First Baptist Church. All current state covid-19 guidelines will be in place for all events.
