Imogene Woods Watson, 90, of Pine Bluff, went to be with the Lord, Friday, November 29, 2019. She was born May 22, 1929 in Jefferson County to the late Lawrence O. Woods, Sr. and Flora Chambers Woods.

Imogene started her childhood in Warren, then became a resident of Pine Bluff and has lived here ever since. She was a graduate of Watson Chapel High School and was the first ever homecoming queen in fall of 1946.

She was a homemaker and babysitter to her family and spent a lot of time in the concession stand working during her grandchildren’s games. All of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, church, and neighborhood children called her “Nana”. She was a faithful and active member of Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church, where she taught in the nursery, held several different offices in the United Methodist Women, sang in the choir, and cooked and served for church activities.

Clem and Imogene Watson were both considered pillars of the Sulphur Springs community, and they served on the board and active workers for the Fitzhugh Cemetery Association for many years.

Also preceding her in death were her husband of 70 years, Clem Benjamin Watson, on December 27, 2018; one sister, Marcine Carter; and one brother, Lawrence O. Woods, Jr.

Imogene is survived by three daughters, Pam Brown (Patrick), Pat Davis (John), Cindy Tidwell (Harry Allen); one son, Jeff Watson (Joyce); a sister-in-law, Nelda Woods; seven grandchildren, Brent Davis (Regina), Todd Davis (Kristen), Jason Tidwell (Theresa), Aaron Watson, Allen Tidwell (Ashley), Covy Brown (Heba), and Michaele Watson; and nine great grandchildren, Devyn and Cade Davis, Macee and Gage Tidwell, Cash and Cruz Davis, Jase and Hudson Tidwell, and Leslie Brown.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at Fuller-Hale-South Funeral Chapel with Brother Mike Holcomb officiating. Burial will be in Fitzhugh Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00-10:00 AM Monday at the funeral home.

The family wishes to thank Hospice Angels for their assistance during Mrs. Watson’s illness. Special thanks are given to caregivers Chasity Taylor and Rhonda Bunting.

Memorials may be made to Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church, 9238 Sulphur Springs Road, Pine Bluff, AR 71603; or to Fitzhugh Cemetery Association, 4704 Payton Road, Pine Bluff, AR 71603.
