Hazel Menotti Turchi, age 94, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2020.
A lifelong resident of Pine Bluff, she was born October 20, 1926, to the late Alexander Menotti and Albin Cingaloni Menotti. She attended school at Dollarway and graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1946.
Mrs. Turchi was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Altar Society.
As a young woman, she worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 10 years. She was in food service for the Pine Bluff School District for 23 years.
The greatest joy of her life was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored. Her favorite pastime was cooking, especially for her family. Her main interest in cooking was making bread. She also had a big heart for her kittens.
She married Valentino “Shorty” Turchi on February 22, 1949. He preceded her in death on September 18, 2015. The last of her generation, she was also preceded by Mike Menotti (Alta) of Pine Bluff, Angelina Cirilli (Shep) of Clarksville, Miss., Chester Menotti, Virginia Rocconi (Congelo), and Mary Grassi (Johnny) all of Lake Village, Fred Menotti (Bonita) of Pine Bluff, and John Menotti of Memphis, Tenn.
Mrs. Turchi is survived by two sons and their wives, Michael Turchi (Vickie) of Pine Bluff and Chuck Turchi (Camille) of Conway; four lovely grandchildren, LeAnn Saffold (Neil) of Pine Bluff, Michael Turchi (Megan) of Alexander, Ark., Trent Turchi of Kennett, Mo., and Alex Turchi of Conway; four great-grandchildren, Tristen and Conner Saffold, and Piper and Ella Turchi; a sister-in-law, Helen Menotti of Long Beach, Miss.; along with many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, December 17, 2020, 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Joseph Marconi and Deacon Noel F. “Bud” Bryant officiating. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors.
