Obituary

Ginny Lou Hodges

On Friday, October 9th, at approximately 3:00 p.m., our Mother, Ginny Lou Hodges, went to be with the Lord. She was born July 14, 1939 in Sierra Vista, Arizona, to the late Gavino and Josephine Duran.

She had been in and out of the hospital (JRMC and Baptist) for the last couple of months. Mom had Alzheimer’s since 1989. This was very hard on our family and was very sad. This disease steals their minds and breaks their loved ones’ hearts. However, Mom never forgot who we were. She would have moments where she would remember little things.

She was the wife of Joe R. Hodges. Dad and Mom owned Joe Hodges and Sons Auto Mechanic Shop on Blake St. until Dad retired. Mom and Dad were married 47 years when Dad passed away February 18, 2004 due to a massive heart attack.

Mom and Dad had six children: Joe R. Hodges, Jr., the late Donna Hodges Woolems, Richard Hodges of White Hall, the late Bobby Hodges, Tammy Hodges Walker of Sheridan and John Hodges of White Hall. She was the grandmother of 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Mom was a good wife, mother, homemaker, and Christian. Her world was Jesus, Dad, children, and our home. Dad and Mom were best friends. Mom enjoyed caring intently for her home and children, cleaning, yard work and cooking. She LOVED listening to music from Motown, Soul, Country, and Mexican music. She always had music playing. Our Mom was Mexican and when she made Tortillas, it would attract the noses of all the neighborhood kids over like mice to sharp cheddar cheese. Since Tammy and John were the youngest, she would always make little tortillas. She would have to make extra batches because strange kids would appear wanting one. Lol! They were our friends. Most she didn’t know but that didn’t matter. Lol!

She enjoyed fishing and going out to the deer camp with Dad, visiting and cooking with everyone. Where Dad was, she always was until she got ill with Alzheimer’s. Life as they and we knew it stopped. The Alzheimer’s was progressive with her. It was hard to accept for all of us. She was so energetic. A vibrant woman we watched grow dark quickly. We hate that disease!!! It took a wonderful and loving wife and mother away from us. It’s awful.
We are asking any money for flowers or donations be donated to Alzheimer's Association at
