Obituary for Frances "Fannie Pearl" Vick Polk

Frances “Fannie Pearl” Vick Polk passed away at her daughter’s home in Little Rock, Arkansas on August 3, 2019 at the age of 91.
She was the daughter of the late Elbert Lee Vick and Mary Bell O’Neel Vick of Star City, Arkansas.
Frances is predeceased by her daughter, Vickie L. Martin, her brother, E.L. Vick Jr. and sisters, Arie Jane Elkins, Willie Fount Brockman and Dorothy Martin.
Frances is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Thrita Ann Griffith of Little Rock and her son John C. “Buster” Polk III of Bryant. Two Granddaughters, Kenda Chandler of Little Rock and Jessi Leigh Gracie of Bryant. Three Great-Granddaughters Frances Ruth Ann “Annie” Thompson (Josh) of Lake Butler, Florida, Brenda Gail Chandler of Little Rock and Rebecca Lynn Gracie of Bryant; eight Great-Great-Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Frances was born on September 12, 1927 in Star City, Arkansas and graduated from Star City High in 1944 at the age of 16. She played forward and was a five-year Star City Ladies Basketball letterman.
She married John C. Polk on March 27, 1944 and lived in Florida until their divorce in 1957, at that time she moved back to Star City. The next ten years she worked in the Byrds Manufacturing (shirt factory) as supervisor. She relocated to Pine Bluff in 1967 and got her LPN license from Seark in 1968. She was a nurse at Trinity village for five years and Arkansas Youth Service Center for ten years. She retired from the state in 1992 and moved to Florida to be near her daughter and son. She moved back to Little Rock in 2003. Frances was always a loving compassionate caregiver for her terminally ill love ones and friends.
Frances enjoyed fishing, socializing, cooking, listening to Gospel Music and watching the Razorbacks play football.
Visitation will be Wednesday, 11 AM to 1:30 PM at Robinson’s.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, August 7, 2019, 1:30 PM, at Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Jimmy Herring officiating. Burial will follow at the O’Neel Family Cemetery south of Star City, Arkansas.
