Clyda Isbell Phillips, 85, of Pine Bluff, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2021. She was born October 24, 1935 in Hazen to the late Homer and Lydia Eddins Isbell.
Clyda was a 1953 graduate of Pine Bluff High School, then received her B.S.E. from Henderson State Teachers’ College, now Henderson State University. She was a teacher and librarian for the Star City School District for 37 years, retiring in 1995. Clyda was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was active in the UMW, having served as an officer, and was honored with a lifetime membership. She was also a member of the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband of 58 years, Clemit Phillips, whom she married July 18, 1958 in Pine Bluff and who preceded her on December 29, 2016.
Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Jo Cook; grandchildren, Reid Copeland and Riley Ramirez; and great grandchildren, Raylan Copeland, Carter Copeland and Rolan Ramirez.
Graveside service will be 1:00 PM Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Graceland Cemetery with Rev. Carlton Cross officiating. The service will be livestreamed for those unable to attend.

Clyda and Clem Phillips were teachers at Star City High School when I was a student there during the early 1960s. I did have the pleasure of seeing them again many years later. Both were excellent teachers and really cared about their students. I have many fond memories of Clyda and Clem. So sorry to hear of her passing. May God bless you.
