Brenda Ann Cook Tiner was born March 6, 1947 in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Myra E. (nee Pierce) and James H. Cook. She departed this earthly life January 7, 2020.
Brenda was known for her loving spirit and her sense of fun. Those who knew her appreciated her sense of humor and her loyalty to friends and family. She often paraphrased Abraham Lincoln, saying, “You’re only as happy as you make your mind up to be.”
She was a graduate of Pine Bluff High School’s Class of 1965, and later attended Arkansas State University, studying Dental Hygiene. For many years, she greeted and served area families in her role as dental assistant, and later as Office Manager, for pediatric dentists Dr. Norwood Brown and her dear friend, Dr. Susan Wamble.
She was a member of Altheimer United Methodist Church, and she treasured her church family. Singing in the church choir, often as a soloist, was one of her fondest passions. In fact, she needed no reason to break out in song, to the delight of her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Cherry Cook Bell; and a granddaughter, Leslie Billings.
Brenda’s survivors include her husband, Gene; daughters Lisa Billings and her husband, Brent; Monica Tucker; and Gena McFadin and her husband, Scott; and grandchildren Ross Billings, Henley Tucker, Easton McFadin and Worth McFadin; her brother, James (Jimmy) Cook; sisters Darla Dobson and her husband, Greg; and Beverly Donehue and her husband, Paul; lifelong friends Linda Cummings Costello Smith and Carol Sisson Belz; and a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Services will be held at Altheimer United Methodist Church (406 Front Street, Altheimer, AR) Saturday, January 11 at 2 p.m., with Pastors Fred Arnold and Lance Hickerson presiding. Those wishing to send flowers may send them directly to the church, or memorial gifts for church projects may be made in Brenda’s name and sent to Altheimer United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 759, Altheimer, AR, 72204.
