Obituary

Alma Ruth McKinley, 90, of Pine Bluff, died Wednesday, December 16, 2020.

She was born February 10, 1930 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, daughter of Ira Clinton Rhodes and Lela Sinclair Rhodes.

Mrs. McKinley was reared and received her early education in Pine Bluff, graduating from Watson Chapel High School in 1948. After high school, she attended Judkins Business School in Pine Bluff.
She worked several jobs, including the original Reeds Drug Store, until she began working at National Bank of Commerce as a teller. She loved all her customers and talked fondly about her experiences. Of course, the bank is where she met the love of her life, Billy W. McKinley. They were married November 26, 1958. They bought the same place that her paternal grandparents had owned in 1906 on Sulphur Springs Road. She was a devoted wife and mother and together they raised kids and horses and hosted a riding club on the place for many years. She loved traveling with Bill to sightsee and spend time with family and friends across the country. She lived a good long life and will be greatly missed by us all.

Along with her parents and husband, Mrs. McKinley was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert Rhodes, Harry Dean Rhodes, Ira C. Rhodes, Jr. and Carlton Rhodes; and sister, Mildred Shelton; and daughter-in-law, Tamie McKinley (Billy).

Survivors include her children, Barron Wayne McKinley (Linda), Kathy Ruth Rushing (Phillip) and Billy John McKinley (Carla); grandchildren, Kaci Ruth Porter (Zachary Millslagle Porter), Hannah Rae Allen, Kera Jackson (Clint), Courtney McKinley, Brayden McKinley; Tiffany Hunt, Doug Gray, the late Jennifer Gray, Matt Gray, and Justin Gray; sixteen great grandchildren.

Private graveside services will be 1:30 p.m., Monday, December 21, 2020 with Phillip Rushing officiating. Mrs. McKinley will be in state Sunday afternoon from 2:00-4:30 p.m. at Robinson’s. All current state covid-19 guidelines will apply. Family and friends are invited to attend the livestream at www.ralphrobinsonandson.com.

Memorials may be made to Good Faith Carr United Methodist Church, 3703 Ryburn Road, Pine Bluff, Arkansas 71603.
